these were some friends of blake's who are in a band who were also heading to the show (ariel pink) we were at that was on this roof top in echo park. apparently they drive the same car as some "echo park gangster" who the cops were chasing, and then mixed up with them. they ended up feeling lucky that they weren't mistakenly shot, which is insane. the second photo is the helicopter that was flying low with its search light on them. the whole time these innocent kids are laying on the street thinking they're going to be shot, ariel pink is trying to start his set and is intoning "they didn't mean it!" into a mic that had a ton of reverb and was surely audible to everyone involved. INSANE!
